Biography

Dark Ages were founded in 1982 by Simone Calciolari which is the only remaining member from the original line-up. After some year of tuning up, the band released the first album “Saturnalia” in 1991. Then came a hiatus, and later in 1996 the band was reborn with a new line-up, and had a heavy live routine in the following years. The players turn-over prevented the unit from releasing original material, until in 2008 a stable line-up allowed to write and complete the first part of a rock opera called “Teumman”, released in 2011. The response has been very good, especially with progheads, and new fans were added to the old ones. In January 2012 Dark Ages were at work to record the second part of the rock opera, so “Teumman – Part Two” was released at the end of 2013. Year 2014 has been an important one for the band, as they decided to stage Teumman as a real rock opera with the aid of an acting company and some actors/singers. It’s been a challenging and demanding project, but in the end, a dream come true. 2016 started with some great changes: Roberto Roverselli (vocals) and Gaetano Celotti (bass) have become part of Dark Ages‘ family. This happened after two members have recently left the band, out of personal considerations: the singer Davide Cagnata and the bass player Nicola Cenzato.
This decision has claimed some adjustments; the band had to rearrange their show’ schedule of the last month in order to ease new members’ accommodation.
The writing and the arrangement for the new album went on at its best: the band recorded it at Mago Studio (Avio TN) with sound-engineer and owner Maurizio Fracchetti and is finally released on March 11th 2017!
The band has now scheduled the first promo shows to promote it it live, and is also planning to readjust under a new direction and to bring back on stages the Teumman Opera Rock.
